The Stories We Tell Ourselves at Positive Storytelling Seminar
Waves to Home proudly delivered a transformative storytelling workshop titled “The Stories We Tell Ourselves” during the Positive Storytellers Study Session held at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, France, from 25–30 November 2024.
Bringing together participants from over ten countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the session focused on exploring the personal narratives that shape identity, belonging, and purpose. Through guided reflection, creative exercises, and group dialogue, participants uncovered the beauty and power within their own stories—reimagining themselves as the heroes of their journeys.
The workshop emphasized the role of storytelling as a tool for empowerment and connection, especially for young people navigating displacement, migration, and social challenges. By encouraging participants to look inward and articulate their experiences, Waves to Home created a supportive space where each individual could express themselves authentically and confidently.
Beyond building storytelling skills, the session fostered a sense of community and shared humanity. Participants reflected on how narratives influence perceptions of refugees and migrants—and how positive, truthful storytelling can shift harmful stereotypes and promote understanding.
This workshop was not only about the stories we tell. It was about discovering who we are, where we belong, and the futures we imagine for ourselves. Waves to Home remains committed to changing narratives—one human story at a time.
