During the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montreal, Canada, Waves to Home had the honor of facilitating a dedicated storytelling workshop for Indigenous delegates creating a space grounded in respect, listening, and mutual learning.
The workshop, invited Indigenous youth leaders from Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and beyond to explore the narratives that shape their identities, communities, and visions for the future. Through guided reflection, grounding exercises, and collective dialogue, participants shared personal stories that highlighted resilience, cultural pride, and the ongoing struggle for recognition and justice.
The session emphasized the importance of honoring Indigenous knowledge systems, lived histories, and storytelling traditions, acknowledging that storytelling has long served as a form of cultural preservation, resistance, and community strength. Waves to Home created a safe space where delegates could connect, express themselves in their own ways, and affirm the power of Indigenous-led narratives.
