At the peaceful setting of Pestalozzi Kinderdorf in Switzerland, twenty-two young artists from Ukraine and Switzerland came together for a week-long art camp dedicated to healing, creativity, and cross-cultural connection. Through painting, storytelling, writing, dancing, singing, and time spent in nature, participants explored new ways to express emotions, build community, and process their experiences.
As part of the camp, Waves to Home facilitated a special Storytelling workshop. The session invited participants to create safe and supportive spaces for one another, listen deeply, and express their stories through the artistic forms that felt most natural to them. Together, we crafted the “Story of Human Stories”, a collective creation made up of the moments, memories, and truths that moved us.
The impact was immediate and heartfelt. One participant shared with a bright smile, “This is the first time I’ve ever expressed myself this way.” Her words captured the essence of the camp: unlocking new channels of expression, courage, and connection.
By the end of the week, something beautiful had formed, a sense of home built not from walls but from shared stories, creativity, and trust. In that space, we became a home for one another.
